We have clothing alteration shops around here. But tapering pants (nevermind permanent press pairs) is something the places don't even want to do. Why is it that a taper from (example) the knee down, snipping both inseam and outseam such a chore? I'm sure that if I said price is no object they'd find a way.
My inseam is short-- 26 in. Off the rack pants start at 29 in. (at best) or 30 in. (on average). Add in a 38 in waist and any simple shorten job looks like culottes. As a man, culottes are out of style for me.
