Hello everyone. This is my first post here although I have been reading threads over several years with great enthusiasm.
I am having a casual jacket made completely by hand and was a little perturbed to see that the shoulder seam went at an angle from the centre of the side of the neck to somewhere slightly behind the top of my shoulder. The shoulders are being made without any padding at all and they sit beautifully.
I read somewhere that the modern coat has shoulder seams that run straight along the shoulder while older (perhaps vintage or even earlier) coats had seams that went towards the back. Is this the case? I am not sure whether to get it "fixed", which is probably impossible now. But I'd like some guidance for the next jacket that I might get made.
Thank you!
