Finished reading the other day "The Best Sea Tales: Of Men and Ships" by Scott Rye. An entertaining and informative collection of historically accurate stories about famous seafarers throughout the years. I'm now reading Scott's book, "Men & Ships of the Civil War."

I met Scott through Facebook's Ivy Style group. He is a talented author and an overall great guy.

I just finished "What if? Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions" by Randall Munroe. This guy's an offbeat genius. You can get a dose of him here: xkcd: Echo Chamber

I'm currently reading "The Slave Ship: A Human History" by Marcus Rediker. It's a harrowing read.

Both books sound very interesting. I’ll add them to my list.

Finished "Men & Ships of the Civil War." Thumbs up!

Earlier today I picked up five books from the local library, including "The Slave Ship: A Human History." @ChipWms!

The others were recommended by one of the librarians. She sometimes includes the books she likes in my online check out cart, ones that I would never think of reading myself but end up enjoying. Among the current books are "The Good Good Pig: The Extraordinary Life of Christopher Hogwood" (that's the name of the pig) and "Don't Look Back, You'll Trip Over: My Guide to Life," by Michael Caine in a conversation with Matthew D'Ancona.
