Wardrobe basics for every woman

My favourite wardrobe basics are:
A pair of blue jeans. a pair of black pants, one long skirt, one short skirt, one white tailored shirt, trench coat and a set of luxury lingerie.

Ladies you should wear low heel pointy toed shoes in your shoe collections. Hoisery...be it tights or stockings should always be worn with the shoes. Whether you have a skirt, trousers or jeans on is not too important. Most of these would look good with the pointy shoes on. And i dont mean pointy cowboy boots.

A blouse or t shirt with a cardigan is a good look as well.

The jeans should be blue if possible and skinny fit, or slim fit at least. And boots also go well with the jeans always if you havent got pointy toes shoes.

Women's Basics

Hi, I'm Wibley from Western Australia - a new member to Andy's Website!

I remember the ballerina Margot Fonteyn saying that an expensive black suit, black shoes and a black handbag with various blouses, scarves, jewellery etc will take a girl anywhere.

Margot often changed her blouse and accessories in the back of a taxi between appearances at various functions!

I'd love to ad my $.02 of favorites and aspirations:

fashionable kitten-heeled shoes for work (so much better than wearing sneakers and hose to the door!)
a few good cardigans (i couldn't live without at least a couple of black ones)
a pair of jeans that can be dressed up, and a slouchy 'boyfriend' pair
a pencil skirt, if figure-flattering
a virtual rainbow of cashmere-lined leather gloves
silk scarves (oblong, square, etc. great for use as a belt, headband, ponytail accessory, or around the neck)
camel-colored trench (already mentioned several times)
a number of fashionable belts
at least a few pair of higher-end shoes (your feet will thank you and you'll never go back to cheaper heels!)
St. John or Chanel suit
chunky, yet tasteful, sunglasses in both black and tortoise
awesome evening clutch(es)

Wardrobe must haves for me are black or dark blue pants and dress. Add in a white shirt as well. A little formal but easy to match and would suit most occasions.

Really? This might be the first time I've heard that. The men I know (many women, as well) like the long and toned look of a leg in heels. But if the leg is already long and toned, maybe heels aren't necessary for an understated sexy look.

I just think flat points look better. They go with more and are versatile. Heels look good, if the legs are nice and all.
But you are right if the legs are long, heels arent really neccesary really. But true many men do like high heels. But something about the flat, or low heel points.
Not pointy brogue types though with laces though. I mean slip ons that expose most of the upper foot.

There are a lot of things a woman should definitely have in her closet,
above all the perfect little black dress for eventually up-coming cocktail parties or dinner parties. A perfect tailored blazer that you can combine to a pencil skirt or a slim-fitting tight pant, a white blouse (maybe even with a touch of transparency) strapy sandals, high heels, pumps and the perfect bag (a big bag for the day and a clutch bag for the evening).

Nothing completes an outfit more than an edge of accessories, above all, if the complete outfit has a classy touch with decent colors and the accessories are bright colored and give your outfit the little extra touch of knowing you know about fashion rules.

Unusual jewellery

I think that if you have these essentials you can make even the simplest of outfits look amazing.

I do tend to collect these designer accessories in excessive numbers, but i always justify them by telling myself (and my husband) that it saves a fortune on more clothes. I can make 100s of outfits by changing the accessories :icon_smile::icon_smile::icon_smile:

Dito ! My wardrobe is overflowing, i geuss its time for a clearout but i cant bear to let things go. :icon_smile: I do however ALWAYS have room for one more handbag, sunglasses ... well they are only small items
