Tucker is definitely getting around. My 18-year old son ran into him over the weekend in a bathroom in Boca Grande. I'll do Tucker and everyone else a favor by not posting the pic, as they were shirtless (had been fishing).

For those who may have ongoing interest in Tucker's clothing/style choices, I noticed he was carrying a Filson briefcase during his travels with the President, the footage of which aired tonight. Also appeared to be wearing a sterling plaque style belt buckle and black full strap loafers. Same thing I've been wearing for almost 20 years!

I think sometimes it's lost on us here that going up to a total stranger and inquiring about who makes his shirts, or rather dropping the name of the maker, might strike people as odd.

If In fact Mr. Carlson reached out to Andy and stated that he was following this thread, I applaud his sense of humor. Nevertheless I can only wonder how odd he might have found the questioning of his shirt maker at a meet and greet photo op.

If/when he found out that Andy runs a popular men's fashion website, I doubt he found it all that odd that Andy would inquire about his clothes, particularly in that his fashion sense is a large part of his public persona.

If you watch Tucker Carlson regularly, you'll notice that now and then he wears a shirt that has a light blue windowpane pattern. The first time I saw that shirt on him, I immediately recognized it for what it was: the Mercer "Town and Country Skye Blue Check." That's one of my favorite Mercer patterns. Evidently Tucker feels the same way.

This is a Mercer collar band height shirt question. I have asked my question of Mercer and have been told that the collar band height on Mercer shirts is 2 inches. The shirts Tucker wears do NOT look like the collar band is 2 inches high.

Can anyone here who owns a Mercer shirt comment? 2 inches is too high for me, as I have a short neck. My Gitman shirts all have a 1.5 inch collar band. By collar band, I mean the piece of fabric to which the collar is attached.

I own 32 Mercer shirts. In response to your question, I just measured a whole bunch of them with a Vernier caliper. Some variation may have been the result of the way the collars were ironed by the laundry, but none were even close to two inches in band width. Nearly all of them were between 1.4 and 1.7 inches, with 1.6 inches being perhaps the most common width.

Thanks for the reply. I did actually call Mercer and was told 1.75" is the collar band height, so maybe its been increased or there's a variance.

I sure miss the old 1989 - 1995 Armani shirts, the ones without collar stays. They probably had a 1.3" collar band and loose, floppy, unlined collars.
