Members,

looking for some insights on getting one of either beige or stone colored chinos.

They seem similar to me and I’m looking for the most versatile (and Trad / Ivy) color that would go with my OCBDs and polo shirts.

My polos are the standard white, light/med/navy blues, gray.
OCBDs- white, blue, pale pink.

I’m having a hard time differentiating between stone and beige colors.

In the pictures below, the first one is Classic Stone. The second one is Beige.

Either one is fine. Buy both, for maximum flexibility!

Stone and beige are equally “Trad/Ivy.” You can’t go wrong with either color. So that takes care of that.

The problem is that you’ve been examining the website of a merchant whose beige and stone chinos almost look alike. Forget that website for now. Look at the sites for Lands’ End, O’Connell’s, and Orvis. Maybe J. Crew, Banana Republic, and Peter Christian, too. Notice the marked difference between their stone-colored chinos and beige (khaki)-colored chinos.

Then keep shopping around until you get a sense of which color you like better. (Perhaps you’ll decide you like both colors equally, in which case you would do well to get chinos in both colors if your budget will allow.)

Once you’ve made up your mind on the color, pick a merchant and make the purchase.

(If you plan on wearing a white shirt frequently, you might want to give the edge to beige; with stone chinos, there wouldn’t be enough of a contrast between the shirt and the trousers. The beige chinos, however, would go with almost any color of shirt. See if you can get both colors.)
