Solving the intricate zipper issue

Hi,
My sheepskin coat is pretty tight in the low level. The pros: it is warm as it blocks cold winter. The cons: it is it almost impossible to reach the pockets of my trousers without unbuttoning and unzipping the sheepskin coat (you can imagine I can’t do it when it is way below freezing outside) to get my keys or wallet.

I wonder what decision could be best in this case. These are my random guesses:
1. Don’t use a zipper. Use only buttons as it is easy to unbutton the lower button when you need to reach the pockets of your trousers. However, In this case there tend to appear creases and holes in the area between buttons so it doesn’t look nice.
2. Mount two shorter zippers instead of one long zipper. Say 7 inches is the lower zipper and 30 inches is the upper zipper. If need to access my trousers pockets I would easily unzip only the lower zipper.
3. Mount the one zipper from down to up (I mean reverse the current zipper). In this case I would unzip it upward (now I sure unzip it downward). This is the easiest way but a man who unzips his coat reversely is going to look weird.
4. Mount one short zipper so it doesn’t reach the bottom. The lower button will be always unbuttoned like you wear a suit jacket. It would also give you pretty weird look in my opinion since I have not heard anyone wear his sheepskin coats with the lower button unbuttoned.

I see no other solutions. Could you suggest any?

Put your wallet and keys in your coat pockets.

I would also consider having a trusted tailor add zippers to your coat pockets -- to protect your wallet & keys from accidentally falling out.

This would be more invoded, but a "two-way" zipper may be an option. One of my coats has a zipper that opens from the top & from the bottom.

Your ideas sound nice. Now my coat doesn't have a zipper on the pockets so I can't put in it anything precious. On the other hand I wouldn't even if they had since a coat could be put off when you enter some cafe, office, home etc. and keys along with wallets could be forgotten or stolen.

Could you please post a picture of such a zipper? I have never seen something like it and don't get the key words to google it. What a nice zipper that can be opened both from the top and the bottom.

If you look up pictures of Barbours, most of them have zippers like this.

More invoded?? WTF is that?? Correction: More involved.

Excellent point! You do NOT want to leave your wallet/keys in your coat when you're not wearing it.

This is not my coat, but my coat with a two-way zipper works the same way

Before zipping it up, it looks like this.
