Questions about a Ranger belt

I am thinking about a nice custom ranger belt, but have never owned one. I was thinking about one of the more simple designs, brass buckle with two leather keepers (not metal) and no metal tipping. Maybe two tone, maybe just one color, not sure. So besides jeans, can this be worn with other casual pants or trousers? I guess it has to do with the right shoes, too?? I'm not a cowboy, or rancher, or ranger by any means. I don't want it to look like I'm trying to be something. I just really like the belt and think it looks like a very quality piece. Any help on how or what to wear this with? Thanks...

Tom,
I ordered one from Schnees last January and finally received it about a month ago. I sent it back because it was much too bulky to wear on a daily basis. I was surprised at how stiff and robust it seemed. I think I have that out of my system now!
Just my $.02.

Not custom, but I have two from Cabelas, one an inch and a quarter, the other an inch and three quarters, no metal tips etc.. Just checked their site, they have an inch and a half also

Very popular style around South Texas but it's probably hard to find a western store where you are. That's where you'll find the most selection. Suggest online sales, Try Cavenders, Shepplers, or others.

I think he meant Texas Ranger, not forest ranger..

I have a few with vintage silver buckle sets that I wear only with jeans. A search on Ebay will show you at least twenty, so you can gain a sense of size, appearance, etc. You might try one or two on in a ranch store. The buckle sets can be a startling amount of shiny metal at your waist when you see them for the first time. As a practical matter, belts made from a single piece of leather that tapers at both ends to hold the buckle, keepers and tip are less cumbersome than those with separate, narrower hardware strips attached to the top of a thicker belt.

I've worn ranger design belts with my chinos and on the few occasions I wear blue jeans. As fishertw reported above, the thickness/weight of the ranger belt designs make them a poor choice for wear with most dress trousers. Relax and enjoy your ranger belt(s). :thumbs-up:

They're also commonly worn with golf attire, both at resorts and country clubs. Very versatile accessory IMO, though when worn on active occasions (including walking 18 holes and carrying one's bag) the metal parts can get seedy-looking rather quickly.
