Quality of Mandarin Duck?

In my on-going obsession with quality bags / briefcases, I have started to take a look at Mandarin Duck. I was under the impression that they made only fabric bags but saw tonight that they have some rather nice looking leather bags also. The hardware looks pretty high quality (zippers, clips, etc). Lining is all nylon, it appears. I am curious to know if any of you have had any experience with with their leather goods. Thanks in advance.

Mandarina, that it. Sorry about that.

I think the only way to satisfy your pursuit of quality would be to buy an old ZeroHallibutron briefcase. The new ones are ok too, but they're not quite as good (they moved towards light instead of durable) and they look kinda sissy.

I don't think you want one with a fabric lining. Nylon is a lot less durable than unfinished leather. They seem kinda pricey for what they are too. Did you give Korchmar a look? I have a Bomber Bag flapover from them for light class days (I handwrite my notes) and the adventure expandable computer brief/overnighter for heavy class days (can hold my laptop + torts book, civ pro books, and crim law book with room to spare). I would have just gotten the expandable one, but my dad already had the bomber bag and he wasn't using it.

As an aside, has Shaffer v Heitner done away with quasi-in-rem, or has it been ignored?

I know I'm rehashing an old thread, but I bought a Mandarina Duck handbag and duffel/travel bag and their store in Vienna while there for a quick trip. I still have the duffel bag and have used it countless times over the years. The handbag I purchased there, I wish I could find a replacement for it. It lasted well over 6 years and accompanied me on travels all over the world and stood up to rain and harsh city streets in various countries. I loved my Mandarina Duck bag and it was so versatile, at least the style I had purchased. What destroyed my handbag was the xray/TSA machine at the airport. The machine torn right through the leather. I had a Hobo bag destroyed the same way going through the xray machine at the airport. I missed by MD bag!
