Got my first order in from Propercloth after they moved production to Malaysia. I ordered a Pink end-on-end. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure what AAAC members want in a review, so barring some feedback, this review shall initially be pictures only.

A little history of PC. They are or used to be a sponsor here. They have a fit guarantee for your first shirt, which is pretty damn good and I think they're the only ones who offer this. They used to be made in the USA, but moved production to Malaysia.

The feel of the cloth is very nice. Its about a medium thickness. The thick MOP buttons are nice and thick, and look great too. The stitching appears to be well done. The fit is great, but I've ordered from them when they were in America, so I expected the fit to be spot on.

Here's a referral link for $10 credit just for signing up on their website.

And the pictures as promised.

Okay, since no one replied, I decided to compare my old PC shirts with the new one.

The fits the same, so no pictures. But... the side seams most certainly are not. The little triangle is still there, but the seams are very different. The new one used double needle stitching (I think), the USA one uses single needle stitching, and the seam is much thinner. Same for the arm seams.

No idea how this will affect the shirt's longevity since shirts are more or less disposable, but those are the major differences I found.

You are correct, that is single needle (white shirt) vs. double needle on the pink. You'll lose the whole seam if you pull the thread on the pink one.

ak622: all online MTM shirt makers have some variance based on what you enter, but the important thing to remember is that it is simply a baseline. It took four shirts for me to get my pattern perfect from where I order, but I just kept tweaking and it came out and is well worth it! Don't be discouraged if your first shirt isn't GREAT, it's not meant to be perfect. As a tip, order the sleeves on the long side, you can shorten them at the tailor if need be.

I'm interested in trying out propercloth for a shirt and I like to know how they are with sizing? Are they pretty spot on from what is entered in the system? How quick is the turn around time?
If you mean body measurements, yes, they are very spot on. I only had to tweak the fit very slightly from my first order, but the first shirt was completely wearable. The turnaround time is listed on their website, I think its around 4 weeks. The real benefit with PC over other shirt makers is that they guarantee the fit, so if there's anything at all you don't like, you send it back and they redo the shirt.

My suggestion: Just go with whatever numbers the shirt size calculator gives you and then tweak it from there. Don't do what I did and try to mess with it without having a much greater understanding of the measurements and how they relate to your body. My shirt was only inches off, but it was too short in key areas and I had to send it back. Otherwise, I would have kept it and used it as a casual shirt.

I like the fabric of your new shirt, enjoy!
Me too!

I know this thread is a bit old but does anyone know if these would be labeled as made in usa? I'm trying to find somewhere that has shirts that fall under nafta rules for duty free. Some of the overseas end up costing just as much as local after 23% tax into canada.

Thanks.
No. Made in the USA has very stringent requirements unlike other countries. To comply with labeling laws, made in the US must be of all US manufacture, only an insignificant amount of the product can be imported. A qualified made in the US label is less stringent. As long as you qualify what is made in the US, you are ok.

Either case, the shirts are now made in Malaysia or Mongolia or somewhere in Asia so the point is moot.

Not sure what import laws you fall under but in the US there are no customs fees for things under a certain dollar amount. I think. Don't quote me on that.

That said, IIRC they're shipped from within the US. I think they get the shirts in and then ship them FedEx from NY. Which makes sense since they include the invoice on thick paper and a card and whatnot.
