I recently bought a new Southwick suit from Tony the Tailor via internet special. I gave up up new Hickey freeman. I thought it special so I took the hour drive from San Antonio to Austin to visit Gassanne Tailors. I first heard about "Gus" Karim right her on AAAC as a bespoke tailor. I called ahead to see if he did alterations on outside garments and he said "of course, bring it in".

When I arrived at 10am I wasn't what I expected; a small shop in an older building. After walking in Gus greeted me personally. I took another suit that fit just right for comparison. He asked me to put it on and he took careful measurements. I put the new suit on and he measured again. He marked the sleeve length, pant hem, and pant waist. he suggested a week before it would be ready.

I told him it was ok but it might be several weeks before I could return as I was from SA. He talked to his brother Joseph and came back and told me to come back at 4pm. This is the guy who made suits for two Presidents, Governors, and Senators!

At 3pm he called and said it was ready. Perfect!

Call this a shameless plug but I'm just a regular guy. I highly recommend Gus.

Indeed, great customer service is still out there, as illustrated by your experience. It would seem that the additional effort has gained Gus and additional 'customer for life' relationship! Thank-you, dks202, for sharing this positive experience with the membership...it helps to maintain the faith! :thumbs-up:

One Plus on that. Many thanks for the report of good services delivered above and beyond expectations. All from the news you have from This site.
One Question: were you willing to say, What did the original purchase and exchange cost and the bill for the alterations?
Not mandatory to answer (and somewhat presumptuous of myself to ask), sir, but inquiring minds want to know the down and dirty of these kinds of transactions.
Thank you for the good news from the field!
Good fortune,
rudy

I paid $70 for the tailoring service (the sleeve length, pant hem with cuffs, and let out the pant waist a little). Much better than I expected from so notable a tailor.
Thank you, seems completely equitable considering the level of service you received and the quality of the delivered item. Very good report!
One never knows when one may be in the area and in need of a solution to an unexpected problem.
