Must your bit loafer and belt buckle match?

Do you have to match up the color/finish of your belt buckle with the color/finish of the bit on your loafer? Meaning, does a gold bit match up with a silver belt buckle? I tried this in the store and it just didn't seem right. This will be worn in a casual setting if this helps.

IMO...this falls into the same debate as to if the metal on a watch should match either a belt buckle or (formal shirt) studs. As I recall in previous threads, the general consesus was "no." If it makes you feel more comfortable, by all means match them. However, again IMO, 99.999 percent of people probably will not notice or think any less of you (if the bit and buckle don't match).
+1...this is indeed, good counsel!
