Kiton Fit Referendum

I picked up a new Kiton suit on ebay at a great price. It is very narrowly tailored. You hear about Kiton fans referring to the suits as being a "second skin," and in this instance, that is really what it is. When I put the jacket on, it feels like there is absolutely no vacant space in the chest area. I am not a body-builder, but if I were, there is no way this coat would fit.

I have worn many brands, including Hickey Freeman, Oxxford, Brioni, etc., and I have never worn anything that is quite this form fitting. From lack of experience, perhaps, I feel somewhat uncomfortable having the coat fit so closely.

I recognize that a good fit is what each wearer thinks is a good fit for them. I am curious to know, however, whether something form fitting like this is the goal of custom suit makers, or is this bordering on "too close for comfort." As best I can tell, there is only about .75" of excess fabric at the side seams to let this out if I start doing bench presses every morning and add a couple inches to my chest.

Comments and advice appreciated.

I don't have the best eye for fit, but it seems to be about as tight as possible without pulling. It may look dated in a few years, but I'd say it's alright as long as you're comfortable in it.

Trousers are out of balance. The back of the trousers needs to be dropped a considerable amount.
Note how the jacket's rear vents are pulling completely open. It is too tight there.
Note how your lower front button is also pulling open. Needs more room in the front waist.

Just as a completely irrelevant aside ... I recently had the displeasure of trying to assist one of my clients with the fit of a Kiton suit. It was one of their signature $30,000 bespoke jobs.

Although I have seen many poorly fitted, overly costly suits during my career, I do have a memorable "top five worst". This one was certainly in that memorable bunch. If price were considered in the equation, it might well have attained the top spot.

I agree with Kabbaz about the balance of the trousers, but other than that, for an ebay purchase I think it looks fantastic!

A lot of that tightness you are feeling is how Neapolitans make their garments, extremely light fabrics and internals to allow a close fit and a so-called 'second skin' sensation to wearing the suit

In my experience, Kiton shoulders are typically wider than normal, and chest measurements are a tad smaller. This is in comparison to a Brioni purchased new. For Brioni, a size 40 = 43" chest, 42 = 44-45" chest; Kiton, I've only had experience with Italian size 52, which really isn't a US 42, but closer to a US 41. Kiton 52 = 43" chest on one jacket, and 44" on another. Go figure.

Aside from the few alterations suggested - the suit looks great. Would you mind telling us what you paid for this steal, so that we can sit here and be jealous. Was it new or used? I've been tempted to buy some pre-worn suits on ebay but I'm worried about getting a garment that has suffered wear and tear.
