I know the first rule of cashmere is to buy Scottish. But that can tax one's finances excessively, so I thought I might inquire about some less expensive options.

I would welcome comments about any less expensive brands, but I am specifically interested in one by the name of Kinross. Have any of you heard of it?

The Kinross homepage struck me as professional and informative. As the name suggests, the company is Scottish in origin. But these days, it manufactures its products in China.

To the company's credit, it made no efforts to hide the fact that it works in China. Instead, it emphasizes that it's cashmere is tested extensively in laboratories designed according to the standards of the

The retail outlets for Kinross also suggest that it is a reputable brand with high-quality products. Using its store locator, I found that most of its retailers are high-end boutiques and country-club shops.

What drew my interest to Kinross was the availability of a nice array of sweaters in the downtown Manhattan location of Century 21[url]. On Saturday, I came across a beatiful, camel-colored zip-front sweater from Kinross. The price was $130, down from a notional retail value of $355. Also, if one had coupons from Century 21, the price could have been reduced further.

So, is this a good product? Does it represent good value for the dollar? I await your thoughts.
