Jack Victor grades?

Hi all, new guy here.

I recently tried on and really like a Jack Victor suit at a local specialty men's shop. After researching the brand here and elsewhere it appears to mainly be a middle of the road brand available at MWH and other places that routinely discount them. However, this is a well respected shop and the price was ~$800. My question is whether this shop is carrying a "higher grade" of Jack Victor than the discount shops to warrant the price, or if it's a similar suit that just isn't discounted due to the type of shop. For reference, it was a "Zuma" model, which turns up little to no google results. It was super 110s charcoal mini-check. Thanks for all responses!

Welcome!

Some Jack Victor suits are advertized as being made of Loro Piana wool. My guess is the Jack Victor suits sold by Men's Warehouse are made of a lesser quality fabric. I have no proof of this, but if MW is selling suits made with Loro Piana fabric, they should say so.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if it was Loro Piana or not. And since I can't really find it online, hard to find out. Because of that, I'm inclined to purchase it since I really like it, but just would like to know that I'm not overpaying much. It's higher than basically all the Jack Victor suits I see online except for non-discounted MWH.

And since our MW ones are available at BOGO Free or BOGO for $100, they're really more like a $400-$500 suit. Ours are NOT Loro Piana fabric (we've had some suits that are in the past, but not Victor).

If you like Jack Victor, you may also like Samuelsohn & Hickey Freeman. Sammy & HF are on sale at Nordstrom, but they're selling out very fast. I've just snapped up a HF "Beacon" series suit (these have a nice soft shoulder). I wanted a Samuelsohn, but the suit I wanted was sold out in my size. Oh well, I had to settle for a Hickey Freeman. Life is not fair!

Nordstrom has free shipping, and you can return to your local Nordstrom.

This a very nice suit, but not the one I wanted.

I am about three weeks away from seeing my Jack Victor suit (https://askandyaboutclothes.com/com...howthread.php?162435-Got-measured-for-my-birthday-suit!&highlight=birthday+suit). The JV is $1150 list, and even with a 20% birthday discount, it is still rather in excess of what can justify (but life is short). The Samuelsohn was significantly more. I recall $1600 or $1800, but not sure. However, my JV is MTM with around a dozen customizations and options - fabric, measurements, linings, etc. (the Sammy offered even more). I suspect that is a big portion of the difference from men's store and OTR or STP offerings.

Thanks for posting Blue fly link. It looks like a great site. Have you used them before?

I mean that the ability to select fabrics and have the suit made to your specifications add to the price compared to stock OTR sizes that can be mass produced. It will take five weeks (usually four without the holidays) for my suit to be made.
Ah. Yes, I would assume so. The suit in question, however, is OTR. My size needed to be ordered, but definitely not MTM.

I have purchased from Blue Fly several times. However, some of their things seem to be seconds. I've returned a few things without any problems. I would buy a suit from Blue Fly, but probably a Hickey Freeman 'B' series. The HF 'B' series suits fit me better than the Jack Victor suits I've tried.
