I found this Canali jacket on ebay for $25. Its measurements are perfect but -- why is it so cheap? What clues do I look for to identify fakes, etc. on ebay.

Thanks,
Stephen

Judging by the description and the seller's other items, it is from a thrift store and he doesn't know much about various labels' values (look at the other listings).

It looks like it was part of a suit. The 4 color matched buttons indicate this. Judging by the style and the look of the label, it may be old and may look a little dated, though I can't be sure from the angle. 6x1 jackets are not very popular and the last time they were 'fashionable' was the early 90s. That's not to say it couldn't be a good looking, functional jacket. It just might be that old. If you're fine with that, and the style looks good on you, try it out. It's only $25, after all. If you intend to wear it as an odd jacket, get some brown horn or more blazer-ish buttons for it.

What's wrong with it? Nothing - except an odd size.

If that jacket fits you, you should have already bought it!!!!

What could go wrong? you don't like it, it doesn't fit, it's in poor condition? Re-sell it. How much can you possibly be out - the price of a cheap pair of socks? Buy it now!!!!!!

I don't see many odd jackets with peaked lapels. It looks like an orphaned suit coat to me.

I see many double-breasted odd jackets and blazers and they all have peak lapels. Though this one is undoubtedly an orphaned coat, it has more to do IMO with the fabric and buttons than the lapels.
