Guys, this is kinda an emergency. How do you make the perfect carnation boutineer? I keep trying and they either are floppy or stick way out.

Is there anyway to get it lay flat? Like seen here: https://asuitablewardrobe.dynend.com/2009/08/fear-not-boutonniere.html

I'm getting married tomorrow and I want my white carnation to sit flat on my lapel on my tailcoat. All the help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help gentlemen. The issue at hand is the stem fits through just fine; however, the base of the flower does not fit through the buttonhole. The buttonhole is not completely open. Is it safe to open it up all the way? I can just take a seam ripper to it to try and open it up more.
