Im looking for some new shirts and I searched some forums on here about CT and TM lewin shirts. I came up with mixed reveiws on both. I wanted to know what you all thought of CT and TML shirts as far as quality, construction, fabric, and price to quality ratio, fit.

I prefer my shirts to be slim fitting style due to my V shape. Iam looking to spend no more than $100 per shirt but rather it be under that by a bit. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks

other brands I heard about are Savile row, H&H, Hweitt & May.

I was in the same position a couple of weeks ago. The choice stood between C&T, TM Lewin and H&H for me. After some deeper reading about the brands, I decided to go with H&H, and I'm really glad I did.

I ordered two BD Oxford and one Slim Fit Dress Shirt and the quality and fit overwhelmed me.

+H&H uses MOP-Buttons.

I have Lewin, Tyrwhitt, and H&H shirts....

of the three, I would rate H&H as the top in design, fabric, and fit. Tyrwhitt makes a nice sea islnd quality shirt (140s, 2 fold), and this is the only type I would buy from this company. The Lewin shirts tend to run a trifle small and I would not try them again (shirt tails a little short and collars a little tight, no shrinkage just made that way).

I can't tell you much about the others, but TM Lewin has double needled sides. CT is single needled, split yoke (inside yoke: straight, outside yoke: chevron), shoulder pleated (same with TML), no sleeve placket button, and 140s and 180s come with MOP buttons. I picked up a CT shirt (180s, very smooth) for $2.50 at the Salvation Army. Well worth it .

Out of the 3, I'd definitely go with H&H at the current pricing (better fabric, and mop buttons, too). In another recent thread, some members said they preferred Coles to H&H. I've never tried Coles, because I'd have to have the sleeves tailored if I were to choose them, and the other makers had my size. If the choice comes down to CT vs. TML, however, my choice would be TML, since they have never used any fusing in the neckband of the collar, and my old CT's did have cheap, stiff fusing in the neckband and the collars often curled a bit by the end of the work day. Also, for 100's fabrics, my old CT's seemed lifeless after 6 or so washing. Some here have also mentioned that there were recent problems with CT shirts sourced in China (they supposedly will be shifting manufacturering away from China). My TML's have held up better than my old CT's, especially the so-called "luxury fabric" TML's. I'm 6' 4", and compared to BB, which was the main shirt I wore before TML, the shirt tails were much longer and have never been a problem for me. Some here have liked the CT finer fabrics (140's, for example), but I have never tried them.

I'd say TML before CT (the buttons fall off of my CT shirts, no big deal really, but it annoys the h**l out of me that they don't just sow them on right..!), but H&H before them both. I like the slimmer fit of the regular TML shirts, and their casual button-downs are a good value for the money.

A shame really, that H&H have just now begun to offer slim-fits online, and when they do, they seem to run out of sizes almost immediately. When it comes to quality against price, I'd say H&H beats most other brands.

A resident of Sweden, I'm just curios: Is it possible to get a hold of (my favourite swedish brand) Stenstroms shirts anywhere outside of Sweden? I know Eton is sold here and there, but I've never seen a Stenstroms abroad...

Correct me if I am wrong. CT, Hawes & Curtis and TML are very similar in cost. H& H is in the next pricing tier, so one would expect their quality to be a step above. The same could be said of Coles, Isiai (spelling) etc.

I am looking for the best of Tier 1 in terms of quality vs cost=overall value. Another thing to mention is the variety of patterns and colors available from CT. This was one of the contributing factors in me deciding to try a shirt from them.

If there are any sales or specials that would make the Tier 2 shirts more affordable, please let me know.

If you want slim then there's no point considering CT or TM. Both carry a supposed 'slim fit' line, but these lines are nothing more than jokes. Each line's 'slim' cut provides enough material for a circus tent.
I find the TM Lewin slim fit to be quite slim, although for some reason slim fit = short tails as well.

To the OP - if you're looking to spend $100 a shirt, CT and Lewin are well under. And there are dozens of threads on this topic already - I don't think you're going to get much value from starting your own. They're dirt cheap - just buy a couple and see if you like them.

The TM Lewin shirt i ordered last night was this one,

Do you think that one is better than this one.

Which one looks the best out of these 2 TM Lewin shirts?
They look similar and it took me hours to decide which one i wanted. I hope i made the right decision. Reassure me please. Which one is better in your opinion?

This is the CT one i ordered last night.

Do you think this one will be tent like? I hope not!
The CT slim fits are just that, so the answer should be "no"!

I find the TM Lewin regular line shirts perfect in size, since they offer their 15,5 with 34,5 sleeves as standard which is just right on me. Their shirts are not at all as wide as for instance H&H. I think their slim fits are too slim, though...

@VictorC: Both shirts look good, no need to think twice about your choice!

Whose slim fits are to slim? Do you mean Harvie and Hudson?
You think both TM Lewin shirts look good. Thanks for that. I was going to buy both of them, but because they look similar (at least on the website) i decided i woiuld just buy the one. I hope it looks good when i actually receive it though. Over the internet looks can be deceiving.
