Not true. They're full price on Feb 30th, and each Greek kalends.

 

I received a catalog this morning that said $199 and had a gentleman wearing a suit on the cover. I tossed it in the recycle, but it lead me to believe suits were $199....

 

Probably their best values (at least of those that come up regularly), IMO, are the Signature Gold suits and sport coats at 70% off.

 

They spam me daily with emails, in spite of the fact I never shop there.

I believe store managers and perhaps some staff have a measure of flexibility. So, if you should happen to miss a sale (hard to do) you can possibly negotiate a price equal to that of the most recent or next sale.

 

As of Friday, everything was 40% off in the downtown DC store. I picked up some shoe trees -- same ones AE sells.

Their clearance section has a signature blazer in 43 long for $98 right now. You'll probably be hard-pressed to ever find that kind of deal on a Signature or Joseph suit anywhere but clearance. If you do, let us know. Today, I'm wearing a $88 glen plaid executive collection suit I got off clearance from them and consider it a great value.

perhaps I am the only poster who takes this question seriously but there actually IS a best sale that occurs perhaps twice a year if you get on their mailing list. This is the Storewide 50% off sale combined with coupons for $25 off for each $100 you spend. In this way you can buy $200 retail value (well, like the others I do question the word "value") for $75. I buy their Traveler Dress Shirts in this way. You can sometimes find some Clearance items cheaper at the same time for even greater savings. You get 4 of these coupons in the mail so if you don't spend $400 make someone in the store happy and give them your extras.

They just had a buy one get two free with the $25 off of $100. Traveler shirts were excluded, but the Signature shirts weren't, bringing them down to $36.67 each, a better shirt for less money.

 

I am almost embarrassed to say that I have paid full price twice at JAB, iirc. Once for two pair of mid-calf socks, but they were too short and when I swapped one pair for OTC, they gave me such a discount I got a second pair nearly free. Also paid full price for my first suit hanger about the same time. The sales person indicated to me that socks, hangers and accessories seldom go on sale...and I believed them. I can't complain about Traveler items for the price at BOG2, though I seldom want three of anything except, maybe, socks, hangers, and no-iron shirts.

 

I've tried their stuff on and find it's all too big and boxy. Plus the fabrics disappointed. I'd much rather buy used on Ebay, which is particularly easy when it comes to sport coats. Full suits are more difficult to get right off of ebay because there are more variables.
