Does anyone else get their annual birthday present from B2? I just got mine & have to see what I can't live without with the summer clearance. Some of these summer Barracudas might be fun...

Hmmmmm.... not sure.

They send you a $20 gift card.

Classic GMC

My wife and I both have B2 cards -- only store card I've ever had. I use it ONLY when it gets me a deeper discount on top of a sale, and I pay it off immediately. My wife does same.

She gets the annual b-day $20.

I don't.

Or maybe the mailman takes it along with all the mail from J. Press I'm not getting!

I recommend only opening an account when it coincides with another big sale, like Memorial Day. You get a 10% discount when you open it. On the retail side you can not combine discounts, but on the factory side you can. Sometimes it makes things unbelievably inexpensive.

Maybe you've had to have held the card for a number of years, I've had mine for over 10 years... Just started getting these a few years ago...

But between these & the 25% special cards, special event invites & Brooks Points, if you pay your card off monthly, it is well worth it.

I plan on opening a BB card sometime in the future. Generally I'm opposed to credit cards (I'd rather pay with cash than go into debt, naturally, and I'd really just rather not mess with them), don't have one now and don't plan on having any others in the future. But if I find that I'm going to be spending a decent amount of money at BB, I figure I might as well go for the card. I'll only use it, of course, when I have the cash to pay for something. And when I use the card, I'll withdraw the cash from my bank account and stash it someplace safe until it's time to pay the bill (off). I figured that their points system was a good enough reason to get the card, but this doesn't hurt.

I have some customers who immediately pay off their card after a purchase. It doesn't bother us, and it's like free money to them with all the points etc. I use mine as a gas card and pay it off every month, which something like 97% of Brooks cardholders do.

Assuming you have the dicipline to pay off your card monthly, it makes sense to put (almost) all of your purchases on one, given the rewards offered and clear record of purchases. Additionally, many card companies offer pretty good customer protection.

I've been meaning to sign up for a BB card, but have never gotten around to it. Maybe next sale...

Another good card is the LLBean Visa, which you can earn gift certificates for & get free shipping. I put alot of my normal montly expenses on this card & pay it off right away & reap the rewards.

I've only had mine for about a year. I had just graduated from college and really didn't have much credit, but those retail salespeople (not just at Brooks) want to get as many credit card sign-ups as possible, so it really wasn't that hard to get one.

I actually use mine as a credit card much more than I use it at Brooks Brothers, but it's nice to have for that reason. I pay it off every month, btw.
