My wife owns some, but she buys a ton of it for our kids. Probably 1/3 of each kid's wardrobe is Mini Boden stuff. I know that they have frequent sales, and she always has some sort of coupon when she orders, so definitely don't pay full price. We probably get at least 1 catalog a week from them in the mail. The kids stuff seems decently well made anyway, and our local kids consignment shop loves that brand so we always make a decent chunk back when we consign Boden stuff. Can't really speak about the womens stuff though.

My wife's into Boden but hasn't ever pulled the trigger because she's too consumed with Zullily. The few kids items we've bought have been decent quality: a step up from Lands End.

My girlfriend owns a few dresses from them and - as noted above - on sale, they are fine as "disposable" clothes, meaning you get a few season wear out of them and then they are shot. She likes the brand because the fit works well for her frame and women need a lot more styles of clothing than men, so it is always good to find a few reasonably price brands for women to plug some holes in their wardrobe without breaking the bank.

I read the article you link to and am still not sure I understand the "soft porn" comment - either I'm dense (quite possible) of the author was trying too hard to stretch a metaphor.

I had to think about it. I think it's constructed on the analogy of "food porn" (for cooking magazines). My wife, for example, gets mad when I throw the Athleta catalogues in the recycling. She just likes looking at them. Likewise, I think the Boden catalog has "cuter" and "prettier" stuff than LE, so it's sort of aspirational. I'm guessing; this is a lot of trouble to decode someone's throwaway comment.

Bolded above - you are so right.

But funny you mention Athleta as my girlfriend buys from them and I am always impressed with how insanely athletic the women in that catalogue look (meant truly as a compliment to their athleticism - nothing else implied).

My wife discovered Boden a few months ago after admiring a woman's clothing at church every Sunday for the past several years. My wife finally went up and asked the lady where she shopped and it was Boden. The clothing looks great, but I'm not sure about the quality as the men's stuff is certainly of lesser quality than, say, BB. But it is also much cheaper.

In sum, it seems reasonably priced for the quality. I think it looks great on my wife but I have no interest in their men's stuff.

My wife's first order came in and she loves the dress, although she did say the fit was "a bit hippy" (body wise, not cultural). I would call it a throwback fit in a modern print.
For the price, if she gets two summers out of it, I will consider it a bargain.
