Assuming that if you are a Trad your number one tweed is grey herringbone or broken bone, what type and color(s) of tweed do you put in the number two slot? Glen plaid, barleycorn, houndstooth, estate, Donegal, or something else?! I chose a large glen plaid that gives a first impression of black and white but has twists of blue and brown running through it. No idea why it's upside down.

Merci. I had no idea you couldrotate these when using the take photo function. I must tinker with it.
Well, I seem to have a liking for Donegals with a resulting assortment of suits in various shades of brown and grey...
I share your love for Donegals. My grandfather often wore Donegal trousers, but he lived in San Francisco. In Austin I could never wear them.

I am not sure I would say a herringbone is my number one tweed. A good grey/brown/cream Harris tic-weave, my very first Harris tweed jacket, is still number one on my list. Second would be a cream, gold, brown and red houndstooth with a windowpane check of some sort. This too is a classic pattern, seen quite often. While I like herringbone tweeds and have several in several colours, they are seen almost universally and they have a little less distinctiveness than certain other patterns. Regardless, herringbones in an olive or dark green are also a favourite.

Indeed, I'm not sure about herringbone being my favourite either, but one of my suits is a three-piece black and white herringbone that really does all look good together. Only for cooler weather, to be sure, but a good look nonetheless...

There was a classmate in high school who had an olive and taupe herringbone. I have been looking for its twin lo these many years.

I did not intend that it be pronounced everyone's favorite. It is, however, as much a staple of a TNSIL wardrobe as a single breasted navy blazer, a blue OCBD, a navy Shetland, or a pair of penny loafers.

Not being a dyed in the tweed Trad, my various tweeds get worn at random. If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably a green Donegal but not by much.

What I have now are three versions of the grey herringbone - light, medium and dark. Also, I have a kinda oatmeal one. Years ago, I had and olive-grey barleycorn Tweed sport coat that I'd love to buy again, but alas, I haven't found it anywhere. But that would be my number two Tweed (or five, if we count all the herringbones separately).
