Still a newbie here and continuing to sop up good information. Years ago, I read an Esquire book published in the 50's or 60's entitled something like "What Every Young Man Should Know." In it was a list of essential clothing one should have starting out in the world. Though not a young man by a long shot, my lack of clothing expenditures probably do still qualify me as starting out.

I would be very interested in the collective wisdom of this forum for the basic, cannot do without, list of clothing that one must have to get by in life as a reasonably well-dressed trad.
