Any ideas what trousers and shirt would go well with a very yellow jacket?
I'm not sure anything but charcoal trousers would do.

All a bit hypothetical, as I haven't bought this very loud jacket, but am tempted.
Something for next summer perhaps.

My friend, come over to the bright side.
A few years ago I purchased, on Ebay, a lemon yellow RL Purple Label jacket of fine linen. I wear it judiciously. When the occasion is right, and I am in the proper frame of mind, it is incomparable. Not for the introverted or feint of heart. Do make sure you check the dominant table cloth color before committing.
A slight off-white shirt with dark charcoal fine cotton pants from Incotex and blue-based bow tie from Mainely Bow ties makes a very nice statement. Be prepared to defend and enjoy.

I think the one I've found might be even more vibrant.

Maybe those lapels are just too much though.

Maybe off-white chinos or white linen pants? I could see light blue or blue seersucker working as well.

Ah, I see your question was in jest, as no man of taste, such as yourself, would wear such a thing.

But yellow sport jackets do have a place. A nice soft and pale yellow can make a very appealing summer jacket. Great with cream trousers, many tans, or a pale sage green.

A Century 21 Top Performer nametag.
That occurred to me, as well. Still, a yellow jacket, black turtleneck and black trousers on a younger-than-I gentleman would be quite the snappy outfit in SoCal. Oh, and mirror dark glasses.

I have one in a silk / linen blend with relatively soft shoulders, half lined. I do wear it in the spring and summer with plain old khakis. The last time I wore it to church with a white OCBD and a pink tie. In the interest of full disclosure I also have both a hot pink and a sky blue SC, both of which I wear occasionally in the warmer months. All three were hanging next to each other at the GW and I love wearing them. Something like that you have to love wearing to pull it off properly. Shaver will likely say nothing could make such a rig proper.

I think it's an age thing. I owned a DB yellow jacket about forty years ago. Why, I have no idea. I may have worn it three times, total. Bad, really bad. However, in a better material, in a better cut and in the warm months a yellow jacket is possible. But as Barnavelt so aptly points out, you have to love it to have the cojones to wear it.

you're welcome Salgy. :)

I'm here all night.
When the final moments arrive, the very crack of doom itself, when we merry band of well dressed fellows are (of course) being raptured, as Apollyon purses his lips and prepares to trumpet, once Wormwood devours the third part of the Earth, as the Resurrection commences and final judgement is made upon us all, whilst the green horse and it's rider gallop through our Tribulation, the cry will be 'Come and see!' and we shall see. Behold! Howard continuing to provide us with pithy witticisms .
