I don't get it. What's trad about a 2 button darted jacket with open patch pockets and aircraft carrier sized lapels?

That's his famous Hong Kong jacket, allegedly impervious to pickpockets. The trad part is the shirt, tie and vest, and the flat-front charcoal-gray wool trousers, which you can see in other shots.
