If things work out, I think we find the person we need. I never needed a woman to dress me. However, my wife has found some semblance of style because of me. I was probably one of the few heterosexual males who was asked by female friends to go shopping with them (though never to Victoria secret unfortunately...), so even as a young man (16-24ish) women thought I had some style and good fashion sense. However, ever since I got married it seems I have been more free to let loose and be me when it comes to clothing. Much of that has to do with this forum, but in a year I have gone from owning maybe 2 banana republic suits, a couple suits from thrift stores and assorted no name blazers to well, a new man. This has to do with a) having a real job, b) being married and aka a real man c) this website d) ebay and e) ebay. Now I have 12 some odd suits and 4 blazers/sport coats all from an assortment of brioni, RLPL, Corneliani, Isaia, HF Bespoke, and Belvest. Fortunately my wife does not mind my transformation, and has always had the sense to ask my opinion on almost all her work attire before she makes a purchase. I do not think that this change come out of nowhere, since I did wear blazers in college and grad school, when no one else did and my parents are professionals who while they have never heard of brioni, still look very good in their clothes. I have not been able to get my wife into the same caliber of clothing that I wear, mainly because shopping on ebay for women is very difficult and we certainly do not have the money to buy retail (and my wife has the sense not to, one of the many reasons I married her. That and she is happy with only one purse and does not need 500 shoes).
