Allen Edmonds did in my opinion. It was the recently discontinued Wilbert. I have 2 pairs, but both need recrafting soon. I honestly find them more comfortable to walk in than my made in the US New Balances.

I bought a pair of these on a recent visit to San Francisco. They are very well made shoes:

I had wondered about the Wilbert. It did get high marks for comfort. Sorry it is being discotinued.

I feel your pain (and frustration).
When I went on vacation recently I brought a pair of these (from Herring shoes). I know they are a compromise, but they can pass as a sneaker (with shorts) or as a more formal(ish) shoe with long pants - a good compromise when travelling light.

Wow, those are really nice! Would fill a gap in my shoe rotation.

Good morning and thank you for your kind words! The Duxford are brilliant trainers, made for us by Carlos Santos so you know what you are getting quality wise. If you ever have any questions on styling, care, delivery etc then please reach out. Cheers!

Why will shoe makers seemingly not manufacture a comfortable, sneaker like leather shoe that does not have a glaring white sole? All you see are things like Park Avenues and others with obnoxious white soles saying :"look at me, I'm a Hipster"
Frusrated!!
AE had a really great customization program for its Strand and PA sneakers, where you could put dark soles on them. I had a blue suede Strand with red brick soles. Was a really cool shoe.

The Wilbert was one of their best sellers for years,.....I would like to know the specifics of AE's sales expectations to keep a given model in manufacturing.

That's one less reason for me to patronize Allen Edmonds.
