Mark Cuban wrote a blog article called

Why I Don't Wear a Suit and Can't Figure Out Why Anyone Does !

Mark Asks such questions as:
Exactly what purpose does a suit serve ? Why in the world are so many people required to wear a suit to work ?

Or are we all just lemmings following a standard we all know makes zero sense, but we follow because we are afraid not to ?

What are your thoughts, comments on this article, Do you agree, disagree or have a different point of view?

Guess he doesn't like suits - probably started with the cheap polyester suits. My first jacket at age 17 was a Hickey Freeman Camel Hair Jacket. Went beautifully with Navy or Gray slacks. Maybe if he had just started out on the right foot?

I think the reason I like suits is the way they feel - the fabrics - I can't fathom wearing a cheap suit either. For me it is about the way it feels on me more than anything else. How about a nice Cashmere sport jacket? I would be happy to wear a suit to work most days - especially in the winter when it is a bit cold. I do have an aversion to them when it is 30 degrees C (86F) or more outside.

It is all about the fabric......

If he is the NBA-associated gentleman who pops up when I google 'Mark Cuban' then I can see that clothing, much less fine clothing, is unlikely to be one of his interests and to be frank, but with the greatest respect, don't much care about his opinions or musings on suits. Good luck to him.

What is even funnier than this blog is the fellows who chime in on the comments.

As example this chap, who one must hope is satirising:

"I never wore a suit. Even for my wedding. In fact, I don't own a suit. Once, i rent a tux for the Emmy Awards but that's it. My business attire are a good pair of shorts and a t-shirt. When I need to go upscale, i wear a pair of jeans and a polo. Once, somebody asked me why I never wear a suit. Suits are like prisonners uniforms. They "jail' my creativity"

Love those comments. Once again, the good old standby non sequitur: not everybody in a suit is all that great, therefore if I dress like crap, I'm a creative genius. There's a name for that type fallacy, but I can't recall it.

I looked up the pix of Cuban on Bing search, and he dresses exactly like all the other cool kids who go to the now clubs and such: quite often suit, just no tie...??

I think it may be the Dunning-Kruger effect, you are referring to. A cognitive bias which allows fools to consider themselves incredibly talented.

He was looking for 'false dichotomy', I believe, but I find the DK effect superbly appropriate for Mr. Cuban and others of his ilk such as Larry Ellison.

I have a feeling most of us like wearing suits simply because they can make any man look good... provided they fit well.

Fred Gwynne is actually an actor who I have an enormous fondness for. From the dopey cop of Car 54, via his incredible guest appearance in one of the funniest Phil Silver's Show episodes, to his most famous role of Herman M, and then portrayal of the judge in My Cousin Vinny, even his grave old man of Pet Sematary. A wonderful and charming character actor.

Mark Cuban, conversely, I have never heard of.
