Anyone ever notice the similarity between the Polo "polo pony" and the Brioni "polo pony"? Has Brioni used this logo from the beginning? If so, how did Ralph Lauren get away with choosing a logo that is so similar when he created Polo?

Brioni derives its name from a group of islands in the Adriatic sea that were an exclusive resort. Polo was played there, hence the Brioni bemberg motif. Forgive my presumption if you already knew.

Brioni was established in 1945, but Brioni suits have not always had the polo player motif lining.

It has been my understanding that the Ralph Lauren polo player emblem made its debut in 1971, as an adornment to the shirtcuffs of Ralph Lauren's then newly launched tailored womenswear collection.jamgood said:

At least it would appear Brioni keeps the logo on the inside lining, not on the outside of his clothing as Ralph does. Hidden logo are OK, but when they are displayed on the outside it gets my goat.
Well, as shown above the Brioni enamel polo player buttons are of course visible to to ours. However, no one as ever noted seeing them to me.
