BACKGROUND:
I am a management consultant and recently attended a business meeting with some of the highest level executives of one of the largest financial corporations in the United States. Clearly suit and tie were required - but I didn't anticipate a question about shirts.

When I arrived at the site of the meeting, one of my colleagues noticed that one of us was in a white shirt, and the others were in blue. He suggested that top executives only wear white shirts, and that his opinion was that consultants should mirror the "power" shirt for these high level meetings.

QUESTION:
If you have a meeting with a top level executive (CEO, CFO, Managing Director, etc.), should you always wear a white shirt?

P.S.:
My colleague's rubric held true. All but one of the top executives were in white shirts, and the other was in white collar on tan.

Those who know do not talk, and those who talk do not know.
