Hi all, I'm looking at 2 AE boots. This is a different AE than I know with different lasts. I wear a 9.5 B in fine shoes, some AE lasts in the past did better than others.
I like a softer leather, the last AE's I bought, I think the Black Watch were too stiff and not comfortable for me.
This is what I am looking at,

any thoughts on these and the leather and how they fit?

I have several pairs of AE boots on the 1757 last (Higgins Mill and Patton). I wear the same size in those as I do in their 65 last. The 1757 is a bit roomier than the 65, but it was not enough for me to go with a smaller size. I’ve got these in suede, tumbled calf, CXL, cordovan, and kudu. I’ve got pairs with Dainite soles, lug soles, and leather soles. No matter the combination, I’ve been pretty happy with these boots.

I have not tried the new Discovery boots or the new 2622 last.

Thank you. Is the leather soft on the Higgins Hill? The last AE’s I bought were the Black Hills and they were very stiff and I am not looking fir a long break in. The Higgins Hill should give a bit more support and secure fit dut to the height vs. the Discovery I am thinking. The brown rough suede looks interesting, wonder how they are to keep looking good? Thanks again.

I don’t think that the leather on any of my Higgins Mills or Pattons is as stiff as the leather (Outland?) used on the Black Hills.
The charcoal kudu (brown/grey) Pattons may be the softest. The suede Pattons and tumbled leather HMs are also very soft. My CXL HMs feel soft, however the leather also feels a little thicker.

the Gray Patton with softer leather would be the best. Thanks, I just ordered a pair, a bit concerned with fit but just not going to stores right now. Thank you mreams.
