Well I certainly didn't think I would have to do a deep dive for this!

I have some new pairs of shoes (brown and black) and wanted to replace the god-awful laces they came with for my standard preferred ones, the simple Kiwi dress laces seen here:

The thing is, they don't come in 36" which I need for both!

I detest waxed laces (No stretch! No give!) and just wanted simple thin dress ones in this size. Shockingly they are proving very difficult to find- everything dress is waxed.

Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I asked the Google and was referred to Walmart and eBay. Do you have a cobbler you use locally? That would be my first place to check. I note that you can search online for almost anything and Walmart pops up. I doubt they truly have and offer all of the things they say they do. For example, a search for Crosse and Blackwell Chow Chow piccalilli will show you Walmart has it and it's in stock. I cannot figure out if they are trying to move into Amazon's model or if they have a deal with Google to be at or near the top on product searches.

Very true! I have observed this same phenomenon. Sometimes, they will get a product for you as a special order, but it takes more time and effort.

I actually prefer waxed laces for dress shoes because they hold the knot very well compared to the softer laces found on sneakers or other casual walkers. As for finding non-waxed ones for dress shoes, I would suggest calling cobblers or shoe shops to see if they carry them in the size you want, or can order them for you. If that fails, call some of the more renowned shoe makers like Allen Edmonds or Alden to see if they carry the size and kind you want.

I try to avoid them, having read Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Erenreich. I agree with you on waxed laces.
VV, I greatly admire Ms Ehrenreich. She has done some amazing work and some revealing writing. For Nickel and Dimed, she actually spent three months working as a minimum wage employee in various settings to see for herself what the experience was like.
