I am pretty sure our military tech makes other nations' look like sticks and stones. Even Russia and China. We the people just don't know -- so that they their people don't know.

Do not threaten a democracy. Bad things then happen.

^^LOL. Well we must be doing something right, based on the lengths China and Russia will go to copy our designs. In terms of air frames, it almost looks like those Chinese pilots are flying our Birds! However the best part(s) is(are) the weapons systems we have that the public has heard nothing about. Bwahahaha! ;)

Let's hope so.

I'm not heartened when I hear that the U.S. Navy is making it a priority to be more environmentally friendly and doing research on sonar that will not harm marine life.

However, I'm also heartened to know that most of what the Chinese have is a result of what they've pinched from our companies so it may also be the case that what is new to them is old for us.

Don’t be too complacent about China; they just grew barley on the Moon.

Whoever is the first to establish a viable offworld colony - nearly limitless resources and no threat of attack or invasion - is going to be the next “America”.

Actually,
I do not doubt that the intelligence agencies of the Russians, Chinese, and many other nations know a lot about our technological and military capabilities. In my view the primary purpose of keeping our military stuff secret is to prevent the American public from knowing the size and extent of our war-making machine. <general smedley butler war is a racket>

Missiles and planes and carriers are spectacular but the scariest part of the Pentagon is the one you never hear about: Cybercommand.

Agreed, but I would add the threat of and dangers associated with Trade Wars to Cyber Command/threats as scary. It is my understanding that money issues have been a root cause of most military conflicts...yes, no? :icon_scratch:

Weren't the Trojan Wars over a chic?
Only in Homer. There was a real Trojan war but it, too, was more about trade.

Interesting take.

A couple times a week I drive south on Route 1 which takes me up on the Sagadahoc Bridge over the Kennebec River. I look left and down and see the yard of Bath Iron Works. Sitting there for the better part of the past two years is the Zumwalt guided missile destroyer. Unfinished I guess. Price tag 4.3 billion dollars. There is a sidewalk on the bridge from which I could photograph it. In disgust. Why don't they build a naval hanger to hide it. Better yet, sell it for scrap and promise never ever to spend that much money on a single armament again. Thank you, Susan Collins.
