Good Evening. My nephew is being baptized in a few weeks and I plan to wear a tan seersucker suit, white shirt and black knit tie for the occasion. What color shoes would you recommend: black, medium brown, or tan suede? Thank you for your help.

I would wear the medium brown. The tan suede might be nice, but since the suit is tan, a bit of contrast would be a good idea.

Lots of people, when they bring out the seersucker suit, also wear things like madras ties, ribbon belts, and white bucks. To me, this has the effect of making the suit a bit clownish. My preference is to wear the same sorts of things that I'd wear with any darker wool suit when I decide to go for seersucker. That means socks, a leather belt, and serious shoes.

In other words, to best pull off something a bit edgier, like seersucker, keep the rest of the components under control.

I wear, generally, lighter brown and tan leather.

My faves with my tan seer is a pair of McClains with white buck and tan calf. Sometimes I wear cognac wholecuts. Dirty bucks are good.

My other suggestion--ditch the black tie. Soften the color by wearing something in red or blue, etc. Solid color satin/silk ties maybe. Summery is better. Black will be a giant contrast and be slightly garish.

That's what I was thinking too. Is there some rule at the event for black tie. Otherwise, I agree on ditching the black tie. Lots of great ties to wear with seersucker from solids to patterns to stripes. I love the bucks you discussed, white tan, or dirty. Try a red foulard tie if it is blue or gray striped seersucker attire.

I wear these AE suede wing tips with seersucker -- looks great and gets lots of complements from the ladies.

You have to stop posting these shoes. I'm losing my mind.

Were they custom made by AE? If these were OTR I would buy immediately.

Very limited sizes but Sierra Trading Post has some

6.5 ... 3E ....

Your foot would have to be circular!
Pity.
I love the lighter tan suede, though.
