Hi guys, I'm new here...

I just bought this North Face Merak 3-1 jacket and it fits very well although when I try to tighten around the hood/neck with the circled toggles (see attached photo), it does tighten to how I want it but then I let go and it's back to normal. There appears to be nothing to hold them in place once tightened or anything for them to fasted to.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Your screen shot is too grainy to see the cord ends, but assume there's nothing there except a knot to keep the cord from slipping through.

Get these. Easy to apply. Pull the cord to the desired position, press the plunger and the cord stays tightened. Welcome to the forum.

The plastic toggles P&P suggested would work fine but you would have to remove the existing ferules, they're useless. Of course it would require breaking them, but since they don't work, nothing lost and the toggles will work.

Those appear to be over-designed. The push toggles remain the best way to adjust drawstrings. This thread reminds me that I need to get some of those for a used jacket I bought a while back!
