In their ad, J Crew describes the jacket as being constructed of a "rugged, condensed version of seersucker"...wouldn't that be a description of a 'pin-cord' fabric design? In any event, were I to buy a jacket looking like the one pictured, it would be from a thrift store and for not more than $3 to $5!

In your other post you mentioned you were 20. I'm 24 so there is probably not much difference in what we look for. Unless you are in law or finance like a lot of people here of course. This looks like a nice casual jacket I would wear to class or to a bar where there is a good chance someone's vomit does actually get on it. Maybe the people who dislike it are thinking about it terms of their professional lives. There are a lot of places people in their 20s go where even a navy blazer is out of place unfortunately.

Sorry, but it is, in fact, ugly, and I'm not in law or finance. If you're in your early or mid 20s, you likely don't have a lot of coin to spare, thus it's also too expensive. If you're just getting into fashion and you're on a budget, hit the thrift stores, where mistakes like these won't cost more than $20. If you absolutely, positively refuse to wear used clothing and you're not independently wealthy, be prepared for a long, hard slog while building a wardrobe.

Yeah I thought maybe this would pretty good with some khakis and a tee shirt. just something you see frequently on young guys. but i dunno. and I don't mind buying really nice clothes from thrift stores.

I just saw this when searching for a seersucker suit. When compared to their real seersucker suit, I couldn't imagine anyone would want this disheveled version.

I'm going to pretend that the above grade-school remarks came in jest rather than from stupidity.

Magnum P. I., there are few things that look as good for casual wear as an unstructured cotton jacket, like the one you've pictured from JCrew. Consider also the L. L. Bean Tropic Weight jacket (I've got 6!). Good luck with whatever your choice.

(And skip the suggestion of TDI Guy above that you buy his Polo seeersucker for $35. Since it's four days later and you've not bit, I just pm'd him, asking he sell it to me.)

My remarks were not in jest. I'm not condemning all unstructured cotton jackets, just that one: I really think it's horrid. Of course, that's just my opinion. To the OP: If you haven't figured out that folks disagree on this forum, you will soon.
