Hi. The attached images are women's brogues.
1. What are the colours of those brogues called? I have tried searching with the keywords 'light tan brogues' online, but I can't find brogues that are as light as those in the pictures. Perhaps if those colours have specific names, it could help me find brogues of the same colours online.
2. Does anyone know where one can buy men's brogues in those colours? I have found several brogues in various shades of tan, but I'm yet to find any that are of the same colour as those in the images.

Thanks

Willkommen mein herr.

Shoe leather colours are, as with paint, ascribed a range of names at the whim of the manufacturer. No recognised standard exists. Dark leaf, Conker, Chestnut et al are not precise chromatic specifications rather they are broader categories.

At any rate a search for 'tan brogues' will return a myriad of hits for shoes similar to the second pair you have posted.

As to the first pair- there's a reason that one may find it difficult to locate such footwear in a range designed for men. However, if you are thoroughly determined then Saphir's Nuancier refers to similar shades as 'straw' possibly 'biscuit' or even 'natural leather'.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions, and vielen Dank for your welcome, Shaver. I have learned from your comments that the precise names for the colours are manufacturer-specific. I will continue to look for oxford brogues with colours that are as close as possible to those in the images using all of your suggestions. Meanwhile, I would appreciate further suggestions if someone has more alternatives.

Member Barrister & Solicitor has suggested this shade of leather might be termed "natural" and member CLTesquire had earlier described it as looking like "natural vegetable tanned leather." And indeed it does! American maker Rancourt uses a tannage from American tanner Horween for a line of shoes which, allowing for the differences in photography, looks quite similar to what is depicted in the OP.

I suppose the problem I have with that color is one of versatility.

If one is searching for a light color, perhaps a pair of nubucks would be more appropriate.

Shoes with brogueing and other embellishments are better left, in my opinion, for darker shades.

I don't think I'd ever consider vegetable tanned leather for an upper as contrasted to typical chrome tanned hide. I think there may be an assumption among some that because it's tanned using "natural" subtances, it is inherently superior. But from the reading I've done, while it's properties are indeed different, they may not be what I'm looking for in an upper. Most makers do use vegetable tanned leather, but it's used primarily for linings and innersoles.

Specifically, I've read that it tends to be softer and to dry without stiffening, a good thing for a lining or insole, but it's softness can be more problematic as an upper because it can get dinged up more easily.

It also ages differently. It discolors, and tends to show stains and scuffs more readily. And perhaps some wish that, but I typically do not. Below Rancourt wisely offers photos of both a new, and a well worn boot, so prospective purchasers can understand what they're buying.

These are not from a (currently) appreciated manufacturer but I think they are the correct color. I considered them, but ended up not purchasing them a while back

Yes. Neither my Father's, nor my Grandfather's Florsheims. Celebrating 125 years of American tradition--via Calcutta? The website advert is appalling. Touts everything but place of manufacturing. Just my 2 pennies worth of opinion. Florsheim crafted a shoe that deserved to remain well crafted; if AE could do it at a reasonable price point, then so could have Florsheim. Actually, the level of psychosis that appears when a deadstock Royal Imperial pop ups is ample evidence that the company could've stood toe to toe with Alden in the gunboat arena.

Just re-read my post and honestly the "toe to toe" pun was unintended, and reflects an inner turbulence on my part. I've been eyeing a pair of deadstock gunboats for awhile, but with 4th of July around the corner, I can't. Alden has earned my business.
