I too would use burgundy shoe creme, though some like to experiment with black to affect a different look. My experience has been that cremes tend to color the leather more than wax polish. Though I no longer use wax, I think if were to attempt the two-tone treatment, I'd use black wax over burgundy shoe creme as it should be easier to remove the black coloring added.

I have a pair of burgundy calfskin Paul Stuart wingtips (Grensons)? I use shoe cream. Should I go with neutral or burgundy?
Be careful, because if this is soft leather it wll absorb colour on the first drop.
So what you do is this, test some burgundy first on the bottom of the tongue to see how it colours. If it isn't to your liking no problem, the bottom of the tongue is covered by the laces.
And if it does colour inappropriatley use neutral.
