It is a cool and quirky pose. Fun.
It was chosen for several reasons. That catalog bit was the first thing that came to mind when someone suggested I not post images standing straight with arms at my side. Modified, as I've done, it shows the clothes. I figured that at some point someone might see that Eddie Murphy bit, notice the very slight similarity, and we'd have a laugh. So, you are correct. Just having a little fun.

The weather in NYC, as the calendar reaches the end of winter, has now gone wintry, with cold rain and a bit of snow gracing Manhattan for the last 36 hours or so. Happily, the snow has not accumulated, but underfoot, I assume that it will be wet if not also slippery, and the winds are to be gusty. I have dressed accordingly, but also for the lecture at the Frick which I am attending this evening.

The weather in NYC is overcast but mild, and the weekend is starting with dinner and a movie, so a suit seemed a bit much. As it's St. Patrick's Day, I thought that I'd play along with the green theme, though perhaps not in the prescribed Kelly green shade . . .

Sports jacket - Favourbrook
Shirt - Charvet
Tie - no brand name
Pocket square - Drake's

For the first day of spring, the weather in NYC was sunny, but varied from cold to not so cold over the course of the day. Taking pot luck with the weather, I opted for less insulation than I would normally wear, as I was accompanying a visitor from out of town to the Metropolitan Museum, and did not wish to be the victim of the line for the coat check. (As it was, my visitor needed the coat check anyway - I should have worn a coat.)

My afternoon was both busy and vigorous, making my way to the Met, then touring the place for a couple of hours, then walking the length of Madison Avenue with my sartorially minded young visitor back towards my apartment, then meeting a mutual friend for a drink nearby, then meeting up with my husband and our visitors for dinner local to the Grand Central area.

As my young visitor is always curious as to my latest purchases, I opted for the suit which I purchased on my January trip to London from Oliver Brown, which met with his approval.

Included in the batch of photos is one from the end of dinner - myself on the left, our visitor in the middle, and our mutual friend (and our visitor's host) on the right.

The weather in NYC today is sunny and spring-like, which is odd, as it is actually spring calendrically here - rarely do dates and weather match up in NYC. In any case, I am off to the Met Opera this evening, and wishing to maintain some level of proper dress at that particular venue, I've donned a suit for the occasion. It is ironic that for the second time this week, I've chosen to wear a grey suit with some texture to its weave, a blue striped shirt, and black footwear - I shall have to get out of this rut for tomorrow.

That being said, today's accessories are more brightly colored than yesterday's - in tune with the sunshine outside, if nothing else. The almost-match of tie and pocket square was done intentionally - I like the slight dissonance due to change in scale of the polka dot patterns.

Suit - New & Lingwood
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - Polo Ralph Lauren
Cufflinks - Brooks Brothers
Braces - Paul Stuart
Pocket square - Harvie & Hudson
Shoes - Crockett & Jones private label for Paul Stuart
Topcoat - Tyrwhitt

Cap - Amicale

Looks great. Really like the pop of color. I do love orange accessories. Great tie-in with the orange on the braces and cuff links.
