I was in the city on business, but managed to sneak away to visit The Hound haberdashers on Sutter Street. This was my first visit and I was impressed with the quality and selection. The staff was friendly and happy to let me browse, and were helpful when I had questions. The store also had a good selection of white wool pants, not flannel alas, but more of a fine broadcloth. About half the ties were on sale at 50% off. Notable, too, was a vast selection of Barbour products.

Of course, the Alden store was only yards away, and I got my first look at their products en masse. Very nice.

San Francisco is worth visiting just for the food. We dined at Schroeders German Restaurant (venison!) and The Big Four at the Huntington, a gem of a place on Nob Hill.
