I subscribe to this channel on YouTube called Brian the Bootmaker which is pretty interesting in general, and recently he uploaded this video of him resoling a pair of Alden loafers, so naturally I thought of you guys. Enjoy.

A very interesting video. What are those two dots that appear to be metal caps on the new sole at the base of the shoes heel? Thank you for sharing it!

Those caught my eye too. Doesn't seem like a standard way to resole a dress shoe based on what little I know, which is from watching Alden videos. Maybe that is a technique more common to work boots? He seemed to get good results in the end though.
