Got bored waiting for the bus on campus today, so I came up with an interesting idea...

How much, in monetary terms, stuff do you have with you on a day-to-day basis? Let's not count the value of clothes you are wearing, or shoes... but rather "accessories" such as cell phones, wallets, watches, sunglasses etc...

Vote above and explain your choice!

Let me see....

Paul Smith Wallet - $150
iPhone - $500
Rolex Submariner - $3500
Oakley sunglasses - $200
Jack Spade messenger bag - $200

Total: $4550. More than I thought...

Can't think of anything I missed...

Your turn! :icon_smile_big:

Mulberry bag £600
James Smith 1 piece-stick umbrella £140
Fulton umbrella £15 - this is a mini-umbrella that I keep in my bag incase it rains on I day I do not expect it too
RL Wallet £140
Prada coin purse £52 - normally just in my bag as well
Watch £189
Nokia £240

total = £1376 ($2100)

In the summer, change the James Smith umbrella for Serengeti sunglasses, £150.

I carry a $10 card case/money clip, a worthless keyring with my keys, am $80 cell phone, and a student ID that would cost $50 to replace. Occasionally I'll carry a $2000 laptop, but that's not everyday so I didn't include that.

So is this question basically -- "who is the best target for a mugging?"

For me it would vary greatly depending on the watch I wore that day.

Otherwise, it's a cheap but sentimental money clip, a $50 card case, and a blackberry.

Holy Cow! I might have to start carrying again. However, I can only wonder what the figure would be for the ladies...I suspect the jewelry factor might jack the totals up considerably! ;)

We have one of the worst, if not the worst, distressed economies in a century, major corporations are going out of business, hundreds of thousands of people are losing jobs, homes and health insurance, food banks can't meet demand, Toys For Tots is bleak this year, charities can't meet goals. Playing counterpoint to that are people guffawing over how much they spent on pocket litter.

Makes one proud to be an American.

-Key to $330 car and significantly more pricey house, no keychain ($0 value)
-8 year old fossil wallet, repaired with duct tape after blowing it out with stacks of Zambian Kwatcha currency ($1 = 4000 Kwatcha) ($0 value)
-EMT pocket knife from eBay ($10) after I lost my $35 CRKT van hoy (functional art)
-3 year old cell phone ($10 resale value at this point?)
-Respectable pen, 1/5 part of a set on sale at Woot.com ($2-3)
-Generally a small notepad or folded sheet of white paper ($1?)
No watch/glasses/jewelry?/etc unless I'm doing a specific activity.

Grand total $23 tops.

When I was at school, add a $30 backpack, $100-300 worth of books and misc depending on class, and a $130 calculator.

Edit: Nearly $100US on a Prada coin pouch? Wow. It's your money/lifestyle, but I could probably just throw away every coin I receive for a year rather than carry it and not reach $100. Debit card all the way.
