I have done a bit of a mini-survey to see what the hatters of the UK charge for re-conforming a bowler. The results are 'interesting' to say the least:

Lock & Co.: £50
Ascot Top Hats: £50
Patey's: £25
Bates: £10 (they must see it first)

Armed with this info, you can choose where to go.

And why not Patey's?

£50 is more of a discomfort than an uncomfortably fitting bowler itself! Before I did the survey, I had estimated the price to be between £20-30. And at a time like this when the wallet needs to be tightened, 50 quid is just too much for what essentially amounts to the cost of new hat.

Do you wear a bowler regularly? Im genuinely interested for next Big Black Book
I have a lovely 1920s one from e-bay but (perhaps fortunately) its too small for me.
So my kids fight over it. And frequently put dents in it.
