I have a 32 waist, but huge glutes and thighs (long-time biker). Most pants look ridiculous on me - the flat fronts that fit my bum look pleated when I buckle my belt.

I found that loose fit jeans from Lucky fit me correctly, but I haven't found their equivalent in dressier makes.

I spent the last season in suspenders, but frankly I'm starting to look like a clown in oversized pants.

I heard of Bonobos, haven't seen them in person. I love in Boston so I can check out most major retail brands.

Can anyone recommend some cold-season pants for me?
Corduroy, Twill, Moleskin or heavier materials?

Well, if this is any indication, you don't want to go too "relaxed." However, the "relaxed fit" option or a "big and tall" section might provide something you can work with.

Denims can be had "relaxed fit" in a stretch fabric that might be comfortable and not have to be obtained in too large a waist size. Taking in jeans waists is a big, and potentially expensive, chore.

There's always "made to measure" if you need something really nice, like a suit or tux. There is a limit to getting "off the rack" to fit one dimension and then having to make extensive alteration. Pocket placement begins to be a problem at some point.

This is what I do. Much cheaper to have the waist taken in rather than having the seat area reconstructed.

Find yourself a decent local tailor and get them made for you.

MTM or some form of custom should solve this. In Boston try Ari Boston on Liberty Square or there is a place whose name I forget that does H. Freeman. They are on the second floor on the South side of either Pearl or Oliver just after Purchase Street. You might also try Hemrajani when they are in town. I just had 2 pair made and just got them back after a series of alterations. It is a long clumsy inconvenient process for tailored garments with Hemrajani, but it is an alternative.
