Hello! Maybe this has been touched on before, however my searches have returned void of anything currently useful. Where might one find trad/ivy clothing shops in the greater south-eastern PA area - particularly stores that are still open. I would assume the Main Line, however I am curious about other areas such as Bethlehem or Reading/Wyomissing as well.
The closest I am aware of the Brooks Brothers (in both King Of Prussia and the city). However, they don't currently seem to cater to the trad/ivy look.

Thanks,
Dennis

As times have changed, your best bet is now online at shops like Press, O'connells, Ben Silver, Cable Car Clothiers, Andover Shop and the like. Sadly many of the great mens stores (I almost wrote " great old mens stores") have gone out of business. You'll still find a great deal of service, quality and traditional style (I hate the term preppy) at these shops.
Just my $.02.

Thank you all very much. I understand that ordering online from those like J. Press or O'Connell's is the most readily available option. However, it would be nice to purchase from (and support) more local businesses. In addition, being a student doesn't afford me much of a budget for clothing, so for the very occasional items that I splurge on, being able to try them on before purchasing would be a massive advantage.

Thanks again,
Dennis

I cringe at the thought of a student budget at the places listed above. Your best bet is likely thrift stores.

For me, thrift stores (and eBay) are where I get much of my wardrobe . However, in the somewhat near future, I’m planning on purchasing a new suit, and I would prefer to be able to shop somewhat more locally. J Press and O’Connell’s are also just a bit far.

I was at Hassis yesterday and bought a M T M suit .
Excellent service, pleasant, knowledge staff, good selection. Great place. Prices as expected, not ridiculous but not like the prices at Orvis or LL Bean from where 95% of my clothes come.
I've shopped at a men's store in Lancaster PA called Filling's and it's ok, not great, not Hassis level of stock or service. If you go to Filling's and the owner, Jay Filling helps you, you'll be fine. If Randy helps you, you will be fine. If Brad is helps you, well, let's just say that you should have gone to Hassis instead.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but I used to love the second hand finds on the mainline.

I used to find great stuff at Bryn Mawr Thrift, but it kinda went down hill in recent years. There are a few other good thrift stores on Lancaster ave that may be worth checking out.

Estate sales are good in that area too!
