As one who always wished I was a bit more like Archie Goodwin, I have enjoyed watching Tim Hutton playing Nero Wolfe's sidekick. I never picked up from the books that he was such a snazzy dresser.

Any other fans out there ?

Charles, I as remember, Archie in the books was a moderately conservative dresser. He usually wore a blue dress shirt with a conservative suit. He explicitly never wore a white shirt, neither did Mr. Wolfe. The fact that Archie disliked white shirts in mentioned in a number of the books. Hope that helps.

This thread reminds me of the following joke:

A man opens his front door to pick up his Amazon package. Next to the package is a snail. The man picks up the snail and throws it as far as he can.
