Opinions for my blue seersucker please:

This shade of blue shirt rather than a white shirt? The seersucker's stripe is a greyer blue.

This madras tie with either shirt or stay with the bow tie and navy emblematic?

Worn with white braces and bucks.

I've reread the seersucker by the book thread and the seersucker season thread.

I had never heard of the dictum, 'When wearing multiple patterns, the scale of each must be different', until I signed up here. It still gets a head scratch.

Why?

Never having gotten a suitable answer, I continue to stick with a personal preference which is just the opposite, stay with similar scales.

So, I don't care for whatever that yellow and salmon thing is, the large scale seems jarring. And seer sucker is so nicely uncomnon that I wouldn't be in a hurry to pair it with another uncommon item, the bow tie. So this leaves the navy emblematic. A good choice. A slight more vibrant blue preferred, but you're dealing with what you've got.

I would prefer the bow tie with the seersucker because that is a classic look (at least in the South where seersucker is more commonly worn). The emblematic is also fine, but not the salmon and yellow cravat. As for the issue of scale that Peaks raises, I think the reason for different scales (sizes of patterns if I understand the term scale correctly) is that similar scales in two adjacent patterns (tie and shirt, shirt and suit) will often clash. If you are an expert at placing patterns next to each other, and can achieve results that are pleasing to your eye, then, by all means, do so. Other than the Duke of Windsor, and on occasion, Phil Donahue, I have not seen many achieve a fine overall effect with same-scale patterns placed adjacent to one another.

I was wondering why that yellow and salmon tie met with disapproval from so many of us posting in this thread (including myself). Perhaps the texture, with creases and lines (is the tie linen or is it madras?) is a bit too much like the crinkly texture of the seersucker. The colours, too, appear faded and blend too much into the white and faded blue of the seersucker. If the tie had been a fresh madras tie with bright colours that popped, it would have set up a nice contrast with the seersucker.

Not much discussion of the shirt in this ensemble, but I think a crisp white shirt would go much better with the seersucker than the blue, which is again too much like the blue in the seersucker. Even a light cream shirt would be better.

That tie is either linen or cotton.

I'm moving it back over to the yellow jacket and ties I wear with that. Maybe even this cream jacket if I can ever get the stain out. A shop in town has Grandma's but I haven't been by yet.

The colors along with the pattern completely clashes with the suit. Like the others, I think the bow tie best complement the suit, though I'd opt for a more subtle colored tie with a light colored seersucker.
