As an outsider I am finding the process of buying NY theater tickets very frustrating. It looks like the theaters sell a huge number to tickets to dealers / scalpers who turn around and resell the tickets at a huge markup. Additionally I find this very cumbersome to deal with online. There has to be a better way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Should I just pay the dealers prices and accept it?

We are focusing on some shows that are popular, but figuring that the latest smash hits are a lost cause.
