Recently I've seen polish (wax) from The Lincoln Shoe Polish Co. / The John Lincoln Co. ... in a black canister with yellow print. It looks as if their logo has been around for a few decades. And ... lately I've noticed it's carried in some of the better shoe repair shops here in the San Francisco area.

My question: Have any on you others heard of it ... or, more importantly, used it and therefore have an opinion (to share, of course) about it? Naturally, the people in the repair shops claim it's "the best".

I used Lincoln wax on my boots while I was in the Army. It was great, but it's rather hard, when they say wax they mean it. Kiwi was much more malleable, but simply didn't shine as well (In my experience). To use it you had to heat it up. Some people used heat guns, or if you were cheap you could just set the wax on fire with a lighter. I used it on boots I was issued, but I don't think I'd use it on anything other than that.
