I know very little about the details of tailoring, but it's my understanding that cutting is the single most important step in the process for attaining the proper fit. Does the skill of cutting extend beyond the creation of the pattern? In other words, once a skilled tailor has created a proper pattern, is cutting of subsequent suits as simple as tracing the pattern on new cloth?
I ask because I've had several suits made by a tailoring house and the latest suit has the worst fit. If cutting is just the creation of the pattern, then this last suit's poor fit must be due to poor execution. If cutting entails more than the pattern, I would be more inclined to attribute the poor fit to different cutters working on my suits.
